Ask For Janice, Farringdon

Ask For Janice in Farringdon have re-launched their menu for Spring with ingredients foraged and sourced locally.

As we embrace the seasonal delights of asparagus, wild garlic and elderflower, traditional British fare takes centre stage at Ask For Janice, but with a modern creative twist. Locally sourced or foraged (in Hackney!) the new Spring menu offers crispy pickled wild garlic flowers, asparagus salad with ricotta from Somerset and hazelnuts, and sustainable cod cheeks with braised fennel. The alluring meat dishes include crisp pork crackling served with a sloe cider jelly and marinated steak with Young Buck blue cheese along with foraged local greens. Poor Knights of Farringdon is their new signature dessert based on the Poor Knights of Windsor, or eggy bread to you and me. It's a brandy-soaked walnut bread and butter pudding, with caramelized peaches and a smidge of custard. Traditionally twisted. Ask for Janice is an achingly trendy and dynamic venue with the restaurant looking out on Smithfield market, and the basement bar serving punchy and refreshing cocktails inspired by the 90s. Mainly gin-based creations from one or more of their 45 gins, we can totally recommend Hey Ladies - Breakfast tea infused Beefeater Gin, Creme de Figue, lemon, fig jam, egg white, Prosecco top, and a sherbet rim. Open all day, Ask for Janice serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as being a cocktail haven, perfect for pit-stops for your cultural trail around Smithfield Market and the Barbican. Also available for private hire. 50-52 Long Lane, EC1A 9EJ, www.askforjanice.co.uk @askfor_janice
