The team behind the hugely popular Discount Suit Company has taken over the site of a classic east end boozer to launch The Sun Tavern.
The Sun Tavern is set to be Bethnal Green's best loved drinking den, providing quality drinks in a relaxed, charismatic setting. A selection of six classic mixed drinks will form the focus of the menu, including a number based on forgotten pre-war recipes as well as signature creations.
Playing homage to the tavern theme, the menu will also feature a range of single serve punches inspired by 18th century recipes and served in beautiful individual tankards or in vintage punch bowls for sharing. Highlights from the menu include ‘The Bogcutter' (poitín, apricot brandy, amontillo sherry, honey water and ginger) and ‘Jaques de Soares' (rhum agricole, Cuban rum, velvet felurnum, angustura, honey water, lime juice and topped with prosecco).
Open from 9am, The Sun Tavern will also serve pastries and freshly brewed coffees from Bethnal Green's Square Mile roastery, as well as serving classic bar snacks throughout the day.
